Product Engineer — Python, FastAPI, Agent Systems

Summary

Product designer with fifteen years across consumer electronics, healthcare, and service operations — and a habit of shipping my own code. My recent work is concentrated on systems that guess: repair triage, health assessment flows, and agent-based service desks. The design problem in all of them is the same — what the interface does when the model isn't sure, and how fast a person can take over. I've built one of these end to end and run it in production.

Designer-turned-builder with fifteen years of product experience and a production Python stack under my own business. I architected and shipped a four-agent service system on FastAPI and the Anthropic API — specialist routing, mode switching, and authenticated human handoff — plus the wear-state engine that dispatches against it. Looking for an engineering role where product judgment counts and I get to go deep on the code.

Door to Door Bike Repair
Newton, MA · S-corp

Co-founder & Technical Lead

  • Designed and built a four-persona agent service desk on FastAPI, Jinja2, HTMX and the Anthropic API — intake routes to mechanical, electrical, or pricing specialists.
  • Built DIY/triage mode switching and a wake-word human handoff that passes a live thread to a real mechanic over a signed, short-lived JWT join link.
  • Owns the full stack: Linux VPS, Cloudflare DNS, systemd services, Git/SSH deploys, and the migration off a legacy PHP codebase.
  • Wrote a wear-state dispatch engine that triggers membership service visits on modelled component condition rather than a fixed calendar.
  • Designed the wear-state dispatch model so membership visits trigger on actual part condition — the system decides when to send a human, so its failure modes have real cost.
  • Held a 24-hour repair turnaround through a season when area shops were quoting two to four weeks.

Erlab
US Division

Product Manager, US

  • Ran US market research and shaped go-to-market and marketing strategy for a French filtration equipment manufacturer.
  • Led a hybrid Design Thinking / Jobs-To-Be-Done sprint for the Halo filtration product line.
  • Managed Erlab's US digital presence.
2021 — 2023
Best Buy / Best Buy Health
Geek Squad & Health

Senior Experience Designer

  • Designed an AI-enabled repair triage tool for Geek Squad technicians — interviewed agents and customers, then encoded expert diagnostic judgment into a guided Q&A that recommends the next action.
  • Cut errors in assessments, part orders, and wasted repair trips by more than 35%.
  • Designed the hearing assessment and product recommendation flow live on bestbuy.com/hearing, built from a two-week competitive analysis of the audiologist pathway.
  • Designed telehealth consultation UX for continuous glucose monitor assessment, launching telehealth as a new Best Buy capability.
2020 — 2021
Owl Labs
Whiteboard Owl

Product Setup Design & Research

  • Ran a two-week field study in a New Hampshire public high school as sole researcher — 7 participants, 8 observed classes, 9 observed setups — to learn classroom setup for a computer vision camera product.
  • Redesigned setup around environmental, network, and usage factors found in the field; raised adoption an estimated 30–50% over previously tested solutions.
  • Authored the customer Quick Start Guide and the internal interaction guide for product and customer service teams.

Point Road Solutions
Emerging tech incubator

Head of Experience

  • Led research and design sprints turning patented R&D into viable, desirable products.
  • Shipped a low-UI COVID detector (Arkemed) with patient- and clinician-facing applications, deployed to safeguard first responders.
  • Designed experience for an aerial object classification system.
2016 — 2019
Bose
Framingham, MA

UX Designer — Connected Products

  • Wrote the iOS onboarding application for Bose AR sunglasses — read the head-tracking IMU, drove in-app feedback, handled connectivity.
  • Designed and coded the iOS onboarding for Bose AR sunglasses, working directly against head-tracking IMU sensors to demonstrate psychoacoustic 3D audio in the first minute of use.
  • Redesigned Bose's first cloud-based product setup — Alexa, Google Assistant, and Spotify — working with engineering to protect UX through technology selection. Scaled to home theater, headphones, and AR eyewear.
  • Ran qualitative ethnographic and quantitative video-journal studies for the Quiet Comfort baby monitor, synthesizing Jobs-To-Be-Done findings into product direction.
2015 — 2016
T-Mobile
Seattle, WA · Coverage Map

Design Developer

  • Delivered Coverage Map features as production HTML, CSS and JS against the existing design system rather than as design files — merging visual and code review into one pass and cutting production time in half.
  • Built a no-code prototyping tool adopted by the whole design team, enabling rapid prototyping without engineering time.
2013 — 2014
Microsoft — Xbox
Redmond, WA

Design Developer

  • Interpreted Microsoft and Xbox design systems into shipping interactive UI for the Xbox Music, Video, Remix and Reading apps.
  • Built responsive, on-brand interfaces reviewed by both design and engineering in an agile cycle.
